‘I feel my way through the drawing,’ he is quoted as saying
during an interview in the 1980s. His uncompromisable spatial
play-by-ear ability worked liked a sixth sense for him and
supported his architecture and furniture design. His keywords
were freedom, simplicity and functionality. His sole purpose
was to extract the very essence of the feeling in each room.
His starting point was his love of Le Corbusier’s work combined
with his fascination with geometry. He used half and complete
squares as a preferred template, while the half-circle held a
special place in his spatial understanding.
