Paik Sun Kim, nato a Mokpo (Corea del Sud) nel 1966, ha studiato

Arte alla Hongik University. Dopo la laurea, ha lavorato come artista

e progettando installazioni. Nel 1992 è diventato progettista di interni

e nel 1994 ha fondato Paik Sun Design Studio lavorando principalmente

a progetti di interni di alberghi, musei, case private, showroom e uffici.

In anni più recenti ha progettato lo spazio comune della Lotte World

Tower a Seoul, gli interni e il piano di illuminazione del Residence

e un interno residenziale a Mumbai. Ha realizzato molti progetti come

art director, tra cui la Icheon World Ceramics Biennale, la Biennale

Theme Hall di Gwangju, Jeonju On, e le mostre a Palazzo Gyeongbok,

in collaborazione con Intangible Cultural Properties della Corea.

Ha iniziato a progettare mobili nel 2007 e come designer di prodotto

nel 2016 ha avviato la collaborazione con Boffi-Fantini, Promemoria,

e Porro estendendo al contempo la sua attività a tutti i campi

del progetto dall’architettura all’arredamento, dal design alla grafica.

È prematuramente mancato nel 2017.

Paik Sun Kim was born in Mokpo in 1966 and studied Art at Hongik

University. After graduation, he worked as a fine artist and installation

artist. In 1992, he changed his career to become an interior designer.

In 1994, he established Paik Sun Design Studio. Paik Sun Design Studio

mainly worked on interior design of hotels, museums, private houses,

showrooms and offices. The most recent projects are the Community

Space in Lotte World Tower in Seoul, interior design and lighting plan

of Residence, and the residential interior of Mumbai. Paik Sun Kim

has produced a lot of works as an art director and typical examples

include the Icheon World Ceramics Biennale, the Gwangju Biennale

Theme Hall, Jeonju Onn, and exhibitions at Gyeongbok Palace,

in collaboration with Intangible Cultural Properties of Korea.

Since he started furniture design in 2007, he has been active as a product

designer. In 2016 he collaborated with Boffi-Fantini, Promemoria, Porro

and extended his work to all areas such as architecture, furniture, product

design, and graphic. He prematurely died in 2017.
