BARRO

Inspired by the archtypal

»barro« is a range of unique and high quality ceram-

ics, manufactured for ames according to traditional

pottery crafts in small, family run manufactories locat-

ed in the Colombian province of Tolima. The ceramics

are created entirely by hand, from the digging of the

holes to extract the black clay to burning and polish-

ing. For his designs, Sebastian Herkner has taken

inspiration in particular from the archetypal forms of

exhibits shown in the gold museum, the „Museo del

Oro“, in Bogotá. The result is a range of vases, bowls

and pots that can also be used as plant containers.

Die »barro« Serie besteht aus einzigartigen und sehr

hochwertigen Keramikobjekten, die in der kolumbia-

nischen Provinz Tolima in einem kleinen Familienbe-

trieb nach traditioneller Töpferkunst für ames gefertigt

werden. Vom Graben der Löcher zum Entnehmen des

schwarzen Tons bis hin zum Brennen und Polieren ist

die Fertigung der Objekte ein handwerklicher Pro-

zess. Für die Entwürfe hat sich Sebastian Herkner ins-

besondere von den archetypischen Formen der Fund-

stücke im Goldmuseum „Museo del Oro“ in Bogotá

inspirieren lassen. Entstanden sind Vasen, Schalen

und Töpfe, die unter anderem als Pflanzkübel Ver-

wendung finden.
