A Celebration of PH Icons

Poul Henningsen | 1894–1967

As classic as Poul Henningsen’s lighting is considered today, the designer was, in fact, an unconventional thinker

with a rebellious streak, far more inclined to break with tradition than to accept the status quo – whether in life

or design.

On the occasion of PH’s 125th birthday, we celebrate not only the collection of iconic luminaires that is his physical

legacy, but also his wider impact on the way we think about designing for the human experience, in lighting and

beyond.

PH’s lifelong collaboration with Louis Poulsen began in 1924 and gave the world such classics at the PH 5,

the PH Artichoke, and the PH Snowball. To this day, Louis Poulsen continues to benefit from his genius. PH’s

pioneering work with the relationship between light structures, shadows, glare, and colour reproduction – and

his fascination with the human need for both darkness and light – remain the foundation of Louis Poulsen’s

lighting philosophy.

To commemorate the 125th birthday of the master of light, Louis Poulsen is releasing new editions of a selection

of beloved PH classics: the PH Artichoke, PH 5, and PH three shade glass lamp.
