These exceptional mirrors have hand-woven frames

that come in several color-ways, made from fibres

painstakingly procured from the leaves of the iraca

palm trees: a material traditionally used to make

the world-famous panama hats in the Departamento

Narino in south-western Colombia, where condi-

tions are ideal for these palms to grow. The fibres

are dyed using seeds, leaves, nuts and roots, and

even the drip-drying process takes days. Whilst the

method of constructing objects from this material is

always the same, it is the stitching that allows for

eye-catching variety.

Diese außergewöhnlichen Spiegel in mehreren Farb-

varianten sind mit handgewebten Rahmen aus Fasern

versehen. Diese werden in einem aufwändigen Ver-

fahren aus den Blättern der Iraca-Palme gewonnen.

Traditionell werden aus diesem Material die welt-

berühmten Panamahüte im Departamento Narino im

Südwesten Kolumbiens gefertigt, wo die Pflanzen un-

ter nahezu idealen Bedingungen gedeihen.

Samen, Blätter, Nüsse und Wurzeln verleihen den

Fasern Farbe. Die natürliche Trocknung an der Luft

nimmt alleine mehrere Tage in Anspruch. Die Fasern

werden stets mit dem gleichen Verfahren verarbeitet,

doch der individuelle Nahtverlauf macht jedes Stück

zum individuellen Blickfang.
