CRAFTSMANSHIP
All IP collections are handcrafted. Handmade processing on the surface (brushing, pla-
ning, saw effect) can generate differences between one board and the other or even
within the single board (for example in the flatness and roughness of the surface or the
color shades); this is not a defect; reversely, it embodies the uniqueness of the product.
NOBLE WOOD
The number expressed after the / indicates the nominal thickness of the noble wood
before surface processing. In some collections, in particular on DOGHE DEL MASTRO and
SEGATO A MANO, the processing carried out on the surface, intentionally irregular and
non-repetitive, causes local reductions in thickness which may be significantly lower
than indicated in some portion of the board.
TREATMENTS WITH REAGENTS
In CAMELOT, RINASCIMENTO, ANTIQUE OAK COLLECTION and MARCO POLO collections, the
particular treatment used may react with the tannins naturally present in Oak. Additio-
nally, the particularly rustic and varied selection used (Country) will clearly affect the
final aesthetic outcome which may differ significantly from the sample received. This
feature is to be considered as a peculiarity of the handmade treatment and not as a
manufacturing defect.
FINISHES WITH NATURAL OILS (RINASCIMENTO, ANTIQUE OAK, MARCO POLO)
Products treated by hand with natural oil undergo a chromatic change (change to yellow)
if they remain for too long inside the package; it is an absolutely normal and reversible
process.It is enough to expose the boards to light and air for the coloring to standardise;
this process usually takes a few weeks also in relation to the ambient brightness.
TONALITY
On sheer colours, for example in ARCOBALENO collection, the naturally contrasted shade
of wood can bring out different colors after varnishing; in some cases, with the natural
oxidation process, such variations will tend to uniform over time altough remaining a
typical feature of the natural product; in some cases, with the natural oxidation process
they will tend to conform while remaining a typical prerogative of natural products.
MEDULLARY RAYS
A typical element of Oak are the medullary rays: the part coming from the radial section
of the trunk characterized by a predominantly striped grain. The rays are typical of the
finest oak both in terms of aesthetics and for technical reasons (better stability and
impermeability).
CLIMATIC CONDITIONS
It is advisable to comply with what is reported in the "Construction site conditions" pu-
blished on p. 185.
Wood is a material subject to dimensional changes due to environmental conditions; for
a successful flooring it is important to scrupulously follow what is also indicated in the
product sheet; we underline the "key" parameters, which must be constantly maintained
both during and after laying:
a. air temperature between 15°C and 28°C
b. relative humidity of the air between 45% and 65%
These parameters, among other things, coincide with the ideal habitat for the well-being
and health of the human being.
In the case of heated floors, in addition to the above, it is important to comply with the
temperature of the floor surface which, with the system in operation, must not exceed
27° C; avoid covering the flooring with materials with high thermal resistance.
The Hand Made collections by Italiana Parquet are built with birch plywood support and
guarantee excellent technical and aesthetic performance even in extreme conditions, in
these cases, however, typical phenomena of environmental "stress" cannot be excluded
i.e.: dimensional shrinkage, cracks between the slats and / or on the surface, etc.
ADVICE FOR PROPER USE AND MAINTENANCE
For more information on a correct use of the flooring and the maintenance program, we
invite you to consult the product sheet of the collection of interest and our Vademecum
available at www.italianaparquet.it already in the preliminary phase.
SAMPLES
The wooden floor, as a natural product, is, by definition and characteristics, unique and
non-repeatable.
Consequently, the sampling provides only a rough indication but can never fully "tell"
shades, characteristics, medullary rays, knots, veins, etc. Account should be taken of
the colour variations caused by exposure to light of wood species (oxidation). A newly
installed floor may look different from the sample viewed due to the chromatic "matura-
tion" typical of a product exposed to light for some time (oxidation).
