Urban lighting is much more than the sum of effect and energy. In terms of aesthetics and design,
it is increasingly important that lighting is adapted to the individual location. Colour rendering and
comfort have become crucial parameters in determining the lighting in any urban area.
The new Icon LED is designed to offer either diffuse anti-glare or indirect light, and, whichever op-
tion you choose, you avoid uncomfortable glare. The light is emitted either from an LED through an
anti-glare diffuser to a reflector, or from two LEDs to the reflector. Controlling light in these ways
makes the lighting much more comfortable and eliminates the glare of direct light. Pedestrians and
drivers alike will find that this type of lighting is pleasant and effective.
Icon is available in two variants, Opal and Basic, the only difference being that the Opal version uses
1% of the light emitted to illuminate its opal hemisphere. This feature makes street lighting more
comfortable for residents in multi-storey buildings close to the road. As an alternative, there is also
the direct downward lighting variant, Basic, which emits no light at or above an angle of 90°.
