Mercatone Uno management

headquarters are located in the town

of Imola, close to Bologna.

The architectural project, as well as interior design,

was entrusted to the Architect Francesco Coppola.

The building forms a “tower” – 12 stories and a turret

for the President’s offices. Its well-structured layout

includes a main elliptical body, (recalling the corporate

logo) and a four-sided accessory edifice for lifts and

stairways), that rises on the smaller axis of the ellipse.

The core feature in the large glass-paned hall is a wide

four-color (red, black, gray and Botticino white) circular

panel in Polished Marble.

The hall floor is divided into a number of differently

shaped plain-colored zones.

Sicis Polished Marble mosaic was chosen for all 12 floors

(for a total surface of about 1000 sqm / 11,000 sqft),

with special details in the lift landing areas.

In the 12th floor turret (the President’s offices), a special

floor decoration - Polished Marble in different shades of

red and green - enhances the round shape of the working

space and a big conference table is positioned in the

middle. The remaining floor surface features skilfully

matched plain-colored Polished Marble patches in

different shapes.
