At the foundation of the Mirage collection there
is a very specific shape: the hexagon. What does it
represent for you?
EQ: The hexagon is a perfect geometrical
figure that can be found in nature. The length of
each side is the same as the radius. You can see this
shape very clearly when you look at the honeycomb
structures built by bees. But it can also be seen in soap
bubbles when they merge together. And this brings us
to the bathroom universe and the concepts of water
and light.
Hexagons made from metallic or transparent surfaces
create an interplay of light reflections, a kaleidoscope
of sparkles, full of suggestions.
Mirage means illusion. When the light passes through
the atmosphere it gives the illusion that faraway items
are closer to us, as if by magic.
EQ: The Mirage collection could be described
as an optical illusion. You don’t know where the items
that comprise it start or finish. It creates a game of
mirrors. The pieces are consistent, they have a
certain authority, a presence. They are made with fine
materials, but at the same time, due to this interplay
of lights the item appears to fade away, tending to
disappear altogether.
I was entrusted with the task of designing a high-end
bathroom collection, with the perfectionist execution
typical of the Pomd’or brand. Therefore they are
engraved within a universe of beautiful pieces.
The star piece of the collection includes a gem; a ruby.
EQ: The robe hook is the iconic item in
the Mirage collection. And the only one which
incorporates colour. The red ruby included within it is
a decorative piece that fully encapsulates the concepts
of geometry and light. It is the colour of life, a drop of
blood that breathes life into the item. Together with
the shape of the hexagonal cone which has six interior
chrome facets, there are another six facets made from
contemporary methacrylate ruby. Its high translucency
creates an interplay of reflections and mirrors that is
endlessly multiplied. If you had to imagine Pomd’or,
you could exclusively define it using this hook.
