KITCHEN COUNTERTOPS

Gris du Marais® is beautiful as
a countertop, but it absolutely
must be treated with a water-oil
repelling treatment. There is no
treatment on the market which
unequivocally seals natural stone,
so it is important to wipe up spills
before they have time to penetrate
the stone.

Gris du Marais® has a
relatively low level of
porosity, however, like
most natural stones, it will
absorb acids over time
so we recommend that a
cutting board is used in the
kitchen, rather than cutting
food directly on the marble.
It must be well sealed and
any spills wiped up quickly.

FREEZE-THAW

Gris du Marais® is not able
to withstand extremely
cold conditions, particularly
where there is the
possibility of frozen water
forming on the surface and
causing thermal shock. As
such it is not recommended
for installation where the
temperature could fall
below 3°C.
