L’EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) è un

documento che descrive gli impatti ambientali

legati alla produzione di una specifica quantità

di prodotto facendo riferimento all’analisi del

suo ciclo di vita basata su uno studio LCA (Life

Cycle Assessment) in accordo con lo standard

ISO14025. L’LCA definisce il consumo di

risorse (materiali, acqua, energia) e gli impatti

sull’ambiente circostante del prodotto nelle

sue varie fasi. L’EPD si integra con i più recenti

schemi di Rating di Sostenibilità (ad es. LEED,

BREEAM, DGNB, HQE) per il settore del Green

Building.

Il programma GPP specifica gli elementi di

un sistema di monitoraggio ed ispezione

per le organizzazioni ceramiche produttive o

commerciali volto a garantire l’applicazione di

buone prassi fitosanitarie nella gestione della

spedizione di piastrelle di ceramica verso gli

USA

L’apposizione della marcatura CE ad un

prodotto garantisce che la prestazione

del prodotto venduto è identica a quella

dichiarata dal produttore e che è stata

ottenuta applicando l’appropriata specifica

tecnica europea. La marcatura CE contiene

le informazioni essenziali sul prodotto e

presenta rimandi ad altri documenti addizionali

che contengono anch’essi informazioni sulle

prestazioni.

VOC (Composti Organici Volatili) sono

composti particolarmente dannosi per

l’ambiente e il benessere dell’uomo; sono

estremamente volatili e possono quindi

diffondersi facilmente nell’ambiente. Le

piastrelle di ceramica, per loro natura, non

contengono VOC: la ceramica è infatti un

prodotto di chimica minerale e non di chimica

organica, e la sua cottura a oltre 1200 °C

garantisce la totale distruzione di ogni possibile

residuo organico, in particolare dei COV. Inoltre,

Tonalite non applica trattamenti post-cottura

con sostanze che rilasciano VOC.

Per questo motivo le piastrelle di ceramica

Tonalite sono sempre classificate come A+, in

quanto non rilasciano alcuna sostanza tossica

nell’ambiente.

The EPD (Environmental Product Declaration)

is a document describing the environmental

impact of production of a specific quantity of

product, referring to its life cycle analysis based

on a study of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment)

in accordance with standard ISO14025. The

LCA specifies the consumption of resources

(materials, water, energy) and impact on the

environment of the product at various stages

in its life cycle; the EPD is integrated with the

most recent Sustainability Rating schemes

(such as LEED, BREEAM, DGNB, HQE) in Green

Building.

The GPP programme specifies the elements

contributing to a monitoring and inspection

system for organisations that make and sell

ceramics with the aim of ensuring application

of good phytosanitary practice in managing

shipment of ceramic tiles to the USA.

Application of the CE mark to a product

guarantees that the performance of the

product sold is exactly as declared by the

manufacturer, and is obtained by applying the

appropriate European technical specifications.

The CE mark contains essential information

on the product and references to additional

documents containing more information on

performance.

VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) are

compounds that are particularly harmful for the

environment and for human health; they are

extremely volatile and therefore easily spread

in the environment. Ceramic tiles are by nature

free of VOCs: ceramic is a product of mineral

chemistry rather than organic chemistry, and

is fired at temperatures over 1200 °C, ensuring

total destruction of any possible organic

residues, particularly VOCs. Tonalite does not

apply any post-firing treatments releasing

VOCs.

This is why Tonalite ceramic tiles are always

classified as A+, in that they do not release any

toxic substances into the environment.
