The contribution for
The Village of renowned
New York-based design
studio Yabu Pushelberg is
Assembly, a trio of sculptural
like minimalist pieces in the
soft muted tones of Crema
d’Orcia limestone. The clean,
straight lines and geometric
forms spring from their
realisation during the design
process of the wonderful
solidness of the material.
Called Self, Collective and
Convergence, each piece
conveys a precise message,
the idea that as individuals
we may stand alone, but we
must also understand the
value of community and the
importance of engaging
with one another.
Assembly represents a series
of original contemporary
accessories for the home,
with a deceptively simple
design that reminds us
how we don’t always need
intricate or complex elements
to fulfil ourselves. It is the
essential, basic things that
sustain us and give us joy
on a daily basis, and none
more so than our home,
our haven.
“We started from the concept
given to us of The Village,
which is an assembly of
people gathering together,
living closely, socialising.
If you look at these towers,
they look like stacked
dwellings in a village.
From there, we embraced
Assembly as the name for
the collection.”

offerto il proprio contributo
al progetto The Village con
la creazione di Assembly:
tre miniature di case dalle
linee semplici e minimali
realizzate in marmo.
Durante la messa in opera
i due si sono resi conto di
quando sia saldo questo
materiale ed è per questo che
le loro casette assumono
forme molto geometriche
e rettilinee.
I tre modelli si chiamano
rispettivamente Self,
Collective e Convergence
e sono portatori di un
messaggio ben preciso.
Ognuno deve saper fare i
conti con sé stesso ed
essere in grado di realizzarsi
anche da solo, ma allo
stesso tempo deve
riconoscere il valore della
comunità e la necessità
di una collaborazione
attiva tra i vari attori che
la compongono.
Questa collezione
rappresenta un originale
accessorio dal design
moderno perfetto per
arredare la casa, lo stile
semplice ma non banale
ci ricorda che niente va
dato per scontato e che un
comune ambiente come
la casa può dimostrarsi il
nostro luogo del cuore in
cui rifugiarsi.
“Siamo partiti dal concetto
che ci è stato dato da The
Village, un assemblaggio
di persone che si radunano
insieme, vivono vicine e
socializzano. Se si osservano
queste torrette sembrano
come un complesso di
abitazioni di un villaggio.
Da lì abbiamo sposato
l’idea di Assembly come
nome per la collezione.”
