Jørgen Nyboe and Henning Solfeldt are part
of the industrial design team at PLH, which
was founded in 1977. Both trained at the
Danish Royal Academy of Architecture.
Jørgen Nyboe is a partner at PLH, which
comprises a number of creative people with
an interest in creating spaces and experienc-
es for people in the physical environment.
PLH Design also works with industrial design
for buildings and landscapes in the form of
furniture, signs, sanitary fixtures, lighting and
street equipment, and seeks to further the
genre through a mix of practicality and grace
– the very characteristics of the building
itself. None of their projects or products are
ostentatious. The refreshing thing about
PLH’s work is that they demonstrate continu-
ity and self-confidence, as well as a willing-
ness to constantly renew. PLH has received
several awards over the years for their
architectural works and industrial designs.
LP Charisma King, which was designed in
cooperation with Louis Poulsen, has been
awarded three prizes: The Danish Design
Prize 2001, Denmark, the design award from
the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of
Architecture & Design, USA, and the
Designer Exhibition award Sydney, Australia.
