10 KAJSA & NISSE STRINNING
THE ARCHITECT COUPLE KAJSA AND NISSE STRINNING WORKED CLOSELY TOGETHER. NISSE HAD AN
EYE FOR SPOTTING PEOPLE’S NEEDS AND THE IMAGINATION TO FIND SOLUTIONS TO THEIR PROBLEMS.
KAJSA ENSURED THE IDEAS WERE EXPLORED, REFINED, AND DOCUMENTED IN CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.
IN 1949 THEY CREATED A DESIGN CLASSIC WHEN THE STRING SHELF WON THE BONNIER FOLK LIBRARY
COMPETITION. SINCE THEN STRING AND THE STRINNINGS HAVE BEEN AWARDED NUMEROUS PRIZES, FROM
THE MILAN TRIENNAL’S GOLD MEDAL IN 1954 TO THE 2020 LONG LIFE DESIGN AWARD IN JAPAN.
