Tiferno is the ancient name of Citta di Castello that arose during the

Roman period along the shores of the Upper Tiber River, in the

northern part of Umbria, next to the boundaries of Tuscany and

Marche. The town has always been a very industrious center and

amongst various other activities, the making of furniture

flourished

in the many alleys and alleyways in the center of Citta di Castello,

where it was designed and produced.

When Tiferno Mobili was created towards the end of the 70’s, by

Giulio Chiarioni under the name of Tiferno Artigianato Rustico, it was

with an idea to rediscover this ancient inherited form of producing

furniture, by rethinking and retransforming itself to adapt to the

requirements of present day needs and keeping alive the ancient

handicraft methods of producing furniture.

This is why when we talk of Tiferno Mobili we think of a company

that has the capacity of producing and distributing worldwide on an

industriallevelandremindingitselfof it’sownoriginsandancient

city traditions, it still keeps working in the manner of “ancient”

handicraft. Today’s Catalogue is therefore the synthesis of many

years of work spent looking to our past and how we arrived at the

originality of the actual designs of the unique furniture pieces.
